Doylestown Adventure Boot Camp not only gets you fit but provides nutrition counseling for men and women of all ages to help lose those unwanted pounds! Earl, a resident of Bucks County, has proven results from Wendy’s nutrition counseling program.
“I’ve struggled with being overweight for years but always thought I could figure it out on my own. At age 71 and 334 pounds, I finally asked for help. My daughter directed me to her trainer, Wendy Yazujian who runs the Doylestown Adventure Boot Camp in Doylestown. Wendy worked with me, helping me better understand what types of foods I should be eating and how much. I was amazed! I had thought I was eating healthy, but I was making a lot of mistakes. Now, 6 months later, I am 70 pounds lighter and my health has improved dramatically. I was pre-diabetic, hypertensive and had high cholesterol. I am no longer pre-diabetic, my blood pressure and cholesterol are now stable. I feel fantastic! I am grateful for Wendy’s knowledge of nutrition, commitment to my health and compassion for my situation.”
Thank you Earl for your commitment to your health! Earl thought he was eating healthy as many people think they do. So, why doesn’t the scale change?
Starting the Nutrition Counseling Program
My nutrition counseling plan isn’t rocket science. It does not require supplements, but does require consistency in addition to eating clean. I helped Earl understand the difference between carbohydrates, protein and fats.
I broke out a variety of foods (cereal, pretzels, crackers, soups, beans, rice etc…) in his pantry that he was eating and educated him on “how to read a label.” This was quite an eye opener for him and to many that I counsel. It is astonishing to see how many carbohydrates are in a serving of cereal. And guess what? A serving size of cereal is about 3/4 cup. And then we pour on some more carbohydrates – milk. Earl started his day out with 75 grams of carbohydrates. This was his first mistake. It was either cereal or oatmeal in the morning. He was shutting down his metabolism before he started his day.
Meals need to be balanced between protein, carbohydrate and fat. Changing cereal or oatmeal to scrambled eggs and fruit or cottage cheese and fruit or turkey sausage and fruit were options for Earl to choose from. His snacks throughout the day consisted of pretzels and crackers.
Thankfully Earl did enjoy a variety of foods, he just wasn’t’ eating them. He began snacking on carrots and hummus, apple and peanut butter. This was just the beginning! A cheesesteak and fries was a Friday night meal as you can see in the picture. After eating clean for a month, Earl didn’t desire junk food.
Earl went to the gym everyday and rode the stationery bike for an hour. We always want to change our exercise routine up daily. His new regiment consisted of 20 minutes on the bike, 20 minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes of strength training. He became stronger and had much more endurance.
A Dedication to Weight Loss and Improved Health
I am very impressed with Earl’s dedication to his health. He was consistent with his diet. Every few weeks, the pounds continue to come off and still are. Again, if you are dedicated to your health, you too can lose weight and reduce the risk of chronic disease in your later years.
